Why did Sakura say I Want to Eat Your Pancreas? ›

She begins hanging out with the protagonist, drawn by the fact he doesn't treat her any differently once he knows her secret. She tells him that in ancient cultures, people would eat the part of an animal if they were sick with a particular disease, hoping to cure it, so she wants to eat his pancreas.

There was not a part of this movie that wasn't beautifully animated and captivating. It isn't a drag to watch, bus just a really sweet and masterful film. Kimi no Suizo wo Tabetai is one to see for sure.

Haruki Shiga

Later that night, he learns from the news that Sakura died from a stabbing. He breaks down and does not attend her funeral. Later, he visits Sakura's mother and asks for her diary. Her mother recognizes him and reveals Sakura left a message in the diary for him.
