W. (Jim) McCann, 66, died at her home in Lometa at 2:15 a.m. March 4 after a long illness. Mrs. McCann was born July 13, 1897.

She was married Dec. 12. 1920 in San Saba. She taught school more than 20 years in the Goldthwaite and Lometa area and founded the Study Club in Lometa, which was named after her. She is survived by her husband: a brother, J.

79, resident of Christoval for 60 years, died at 7:20 p.m. Monday at Golden Years Rest Home here. She had been a patient since February. Mrs. Warnock was born Nov.

14. 1884 in Paris. was married to the late J. Warnock She. in San Antonio on July 22, 1902.

She and her husband lived there and in Fort Worth prior to moving to Christoval in January 1904. Mr. Warnock died in 1944. Mrs. Warnock was a Baptist.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for 44 years. She belonged to the El Concho Study Club and was a member of Christoval P.TA. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Edwin Brown and Mrs. Louis Jones, both of Christoval; a grandson and four great-grandchildren.

Wreck Victim BIG SPRING (SC) Funeral for David Ortega, 19, of Tahoka, who was killed in an auto accident near Vealmoor Saturday night, was at Holden Funeral Home in Haskell. Young Rites WINTERS (SC) Mrs. T. B. Young, 92, a Winters resident 47 years, died at Winters Municipal Hospital at 5:08 a.m. March 5 after a four year illness.

Car Crash Claims Truck Edison Instructor Kills An Edison Junior High School reading instructor, was killed and a Fort Worth woman injured in a two-car crash about 12 p.m. Sunday about one mile north of San Angelo. Miss Zell Ellis, of 2401 Guadalupe, an Edison instructor, 13 years, was pronounced dead at the scene by Peace Justice Glenn Jenkins. The accident occurred at the of State Highway 208 with FM 2105, on a section of Loop 306. Miss Ellis' car was in collision with one driven by Mrs.

Mrs. Odell was born Aug. 20, 1870 in Arkansas while her parents were traveling to Texas from Missouri. They settled in Parker County, and she was married there to J. L.

Odell in 1888. In 1909 they moved to Haskell where she lived until movto Winters. Mr. Odell died 1939. She was a member of Haskell's First Christian Church for 60 years.

Survivors include four sons, Gordon Odell of Amarillo, James Odell of Oklahoma City, A. D. Odell of Abilene and J. L. Odell Jr.

Del Rio Man Is Killed In Accident Standard- Times News Service SAN BERNARDINO. Calif. Jose Trevino Gonzales, 35, of Del Rio, died early March 5 of injuries he received in a cartrain collision.

(Buster) Mitchell, 56, former professional football player, died March 41 in Simmons Memorial Hospital in Sweetwater. Mr. Mitchell played football for Sweetwater High School in 1924 and for the New York Giants and Detroit Lions in the 1930's.

He was born June 30, 1881, in Mississippi and lived in Coleman 16 years before moving to San Angelo. He was also former Haskell resident, where he farmed several years. Survivors include a son, MarWest of 520 N. Malone: a daughter, Mrs. Jerry Harrell of Haskell; four sisters, Mrs.

Funeral services for Miss Ellis were held in Spur. Miss Ellis was born March 30, 1909, in Spur. She attended McMurry College and Missouri State College in Warrensburg, Mo. She taught at Fort Sumner and Las Cruces, N.M. before moving to San Angelo in 1951.

She was a member of the Texas State Teachers Association, the National Education Association, the Mid Texas Read-5 ling Council and the Methodist Church. Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Bill Davis Ralls, Mrs. Rachel Bingham of Spur, and Mrs. Agatha Arrington of Miami; and two brothers, D.

S. Ellis of Truscott and Harry Ellis of Spur. Mrs. Lucy Winkel, Llano, Dies LLANO (SC) Mrs. Lucy Wilton Winkel, 73, Llano resident for 36 years, died Thursday night in Llano Hospital after a long illness.

Funeral services were held Saturday at Buttery-Waldrope Funeral Home with burial in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Winkel, a retired merchant, was born Oct. 23, 1890 in Richland Springs. She was married to Harry Winkel in January, 1914.

He died in 1947. Mrs. Winkel was life member past president of the Service Guild of the Methodist Church and held numerous offices in the Llano Eastern Star. She had belonged to the local Eastern Star longer than any other member. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs.

Albert Fox and Mrs. Cliff Martin, both Llano; two brothers, John George Wilthat (ton, both of Richland Springs; one half brother, Will Wilton of Richland Springs; one sister, Mrs. Mary, Winkel of Houston; one sister, Margaret Wilton of Richland Springs; a niece whom she reared, Mrs. C. E.

crash on Texas 199 in misty weather. The other truck toppled on one side. Scott Services Here Tuesday Mrs. Harry (Florence) Scott, 92, of 611 Spaulding a resident of San Angelo 54 years, died at Rabb Nursing Home about 8:30 p.m. Sunday.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in Fairmount Cemetery. She was born Feb. 14, 1872. She and her husband moved here from Ballinger in 1910.

She was the mother of Mrs. Horace A. Goodson, wife of the Tom Green County District Clerk, and a son, Neil Scott of San Angelo. Other survivors include four grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren. D.

J. Dorris Dies In Howard Daniel Jodson Dorris 67, of 721 Pulliam, died March 6 in Veterans Hospital in Big Spring. Burial was here Saturday. Mr. Dorris had been a resident of San Angelo the last 15 years.

Survivors include his wife, Lidia; sons, J. B. Dorris of 713 Spaulding, William R. three, Dorris of 529 Upton and Daniel J. Dorris Jr.

of 121 N. Emerick; and 12 grandchildren. Mrs. Minnie Nix Dies In Lufkin Mrs. Minnie Lee Nix, former San Angelo resident, died MonMemorial Hospital in Lufkin.

Services were held Wednesday in Lufkin with burial in King Cemetery in Mount Enterprise. Mrs. Nix was a resident of San Angelo from 1945 to 1955. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. John McCreery of Benton, five sisters and two brothers.

Mrs. Nina Scott KERRVILLE (SC) Mrs. Nina Della Scott, 64, of Lometa, died in a Kerrville nursing home Thursday evening after a long illness. Funeral services were held Saturday in First Baptist Church in Leakey with burial in Leakey Cemetery directed by Smith Funeral Home of Kerrville. Mrs.

Scott was born Sept. 7, 1899, in Waco and had lived at the nursing home about two years. She was married to Steve Stapleton of Leakey in 1914. He died in 1940, and she was married to John Scott and lived in Lometa until moving to the nursing home. Survivors include her husband; vors, daughters, Mrs.

Vernon Peel and Mrs. C. H. Ellis, both of Kerrville; three sons, Steve Stapleton of New Braunfels, W. C.

Stapleton of San Francisco, and J. R. Stapleton U. S. Navy; a brother, Clifford Phillips of Abilene; 14 grandchildren and 11 -grandchildren.

Two Persons Die In Muleshoe Mishap MULESHOE (AP) A traincar crash near this West Texas town Sunday killed two persons. Cecilio Chavez died outright. His companion, Ester Anguinana, died an hour later in a Muleshoe hospital. Winters, Roby Snare Honors At Sweetwater SWEETWATER -(SC) Winters High School captured two of three categories in the Class AA division of Sweetwater's 11th Annual Band Festival which ended here Saturday. Winters collected firsts in concert and in sight reading.

Cisco won first place in marching. In Class competition, Roby won the concert and marching categories and Loraine was first in sight reading. Schools from Abilene swept the Class 3C competition. Madison Junior High won concert and sight reading and Mann Junior High won the marching contest. A parade featuring the 18 competing bands climaxed the festival..
