How to find Helltide events in Diablo 4? ›

The Diablo 4 Helltide Event becomes available after you complete the Cathedral of Light Capstone Dungeon so you can switch to World Tier 3: Nightmare. The activity itself occurs periodically. As of the time of this writing, we believe it's every other hour, with the activity itself lasting for an hour, too.

Participating In The Helltide

Helltides will be marked with a dark red outline on your map, similar to how PvP zones are displayed. A Helltide lasts for 60 minutes before it relocates. A Helltide is always active in Sanctuary, so if you happen to miss one, simply wait a few minutes for the next one to spawn.

You can find Helltide Commanders by completing Portal Invasion or Gathering Storm local events in a Helltide zone.

How to Unlock Helltides. Helltides are unlocked naturally in the game after completing the Campaign and then subsequently completing the Capstone Dungeon that unlocks World Tier 3. Once you're able to access World Tier 3, you'll get a Priority Quest from Doomsayer Pira titled "The Helltide Rises".

Helltides – These area-spanning events spawn every two hours and fifteen minutes and last for an hour. So what that means is that when you see a Helltide, it runs for an hour, then ends, you then have 75 minutes until another one will appear.

Is Kixxarth a Helltide commander? ›

This event requires you to destroy 5 different effigies before the time runs out. Kixxarth, Helltide Assassin: While it does not explicitly say that Kixxarth is a Helltide Commander, he does count towards the progress of the Seasonal Journey.

Helltides can occur in any of the five regions of Sanctuary. Monsters in a Helltide drop a currency called Cinders, used to open Helltide Chests within the event zone, and Baneful Hearts, used to summon the Blood Maiden at Accursed Rituals. Dying will result in losing a large portion of your Cinders.

During this event, you must destroy seven portals before time runs out. Strengthened enemies constantly appear from these portals, so you will have a hard time. But as in the previous case, destroying all portals ensures the arrival of the Helltide Commander.
