I had the honour today of giving the keynote presentation at the start of the second day of the IPSA conference. Many thanks to my great colleague and friend Narong Simakajornboon for inviting me to speak on the topic that our team worked on for 20 years now. Our center was well presented with several presentations by my pediatric ENT colleague An Boudewyns as well. We’re fostering the great tradition of sleep research at Universiteit Antwerpen and Universitair Ziekenhuis Antwerpen.

Very excited to share this new paper by our former PhD-researcher Eline Lauwers, which validates sound characteristics obtained by a digital stethoscope against imaging in CF patients. The study highlights the potential value of automated Computer Aided Lung Sound Analysis as a novel non-invasive outcome measure in future research and clinical practice. This research is an important step forward in the development of non-invasive methods for tracking lung disease. #CFResearch #LungSoundAnalysis #NonInvasiveMeasurements #CALSA #DigitalStethoscope

Yesterday we achieved the first milestone with our group of children with a chronic disease who are training for their first kids triatlon. We participated in the kids and/or short run of the Antwerp 10 Miles and our kids did a fantastic job! They all reached the finish line with a big smile on their faces! Our department had the pleasure of hosting the annual conference of the Belgian Society of Pediatrics (BVK/SBP) in Antwerp on March 14th and 15th. It was a fantastic opportunity for knowledge building and networking with our peers. I am proud to be part of a group of talented and motivated researchers who presented their research projects to the Belgian paediatricians. Kudos to Luna Antonino, Julie Degraeve, Kristien Vanhaverbeke, Inès Ghys, Amber Van Baelen, Toon Janssen, Roxanne Oostermeyer, and Femke Wille for their hard work and dedication to our lab of pediatrics, pediatric pulmonology and sleep medicine.
